James South, Ph.D., M.S.
I work with teens, adults, and couples using an individualized approach for each patient.
I work with each patient to understand specific concerns, recognizing that no two individuals are alike. While acknowledging that patients come to therapy for help with specific problems such as depression, anxiety, trauma, ADHD, phobias, career discernment, sexual or relationship issues, gender development, and chronic illness, the work we do together can be contextualized within a broader understanding of what the patient wants to achieve in life and how we can best collaborate to make those goals a reality.
I have extensive training in a variety of therapeutic modalities, including second and third wave Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), especially Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and Mindfulness based therapies, as well as Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, and Psychoanalysis. I welcome working with those in the LGBTQIA+ community. In addition, I possess a PhD in philosophy and have taught at a local university for more than 25 years.
